Hello and welcome to Mother Dean Says. I'm Marisa, Writer-In-Chief here. I created this space as a forum to share my thoughts, observations and experiences about the world and society in which I live, navigate and negotiate as a black heterosexual woman. I am interested in feminism, freedom of expression and thought, freedom in sexual orientation, dismantling whiteness, examining structures of privilege, delicious food, romance novels, my husband and toddler, conversations with open-minded folks, conversations with people of varying persuasions who have the ability to think critically and cheese. I do not demand that everyone agree with me, just that we can have thoughtful, productive and respectful conversations that engage each other in a positive way.
